It's that day of days here in the state of Alabama. It's the annual Iron Bowl game be- tween my alma mater the University of Alabama and Auburn University (that “cow college across the state” 😂 ).
If you don't know anything about college football, this is the biggest rivalry game of them all. (I know Ohio State and Michigan fans will argue their game is the bigger rivalry game. Second biggest maybe. I love my Bama football, and I take the game seriously but some people here take this game way, way too seriously.)
Acting
Working background on Nowhere Men was an absolute blast. The cast and crew were great. I got to spend some time chatting with the stars Jack Quaid and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who were both friendly and kind and absolute pros. I learned a lot by watching them work.
If I had gotten the part I auditioned for, I would have gotten to work with them directly. That would’ve been amazing. But also maybe more than I’m ready for at this point in time.
Recovery
This has been a week of mental recovery. I still have brain haze from Covid. Honestly, focusing enough to write this post has been a challenge.
I've been sleeping more this week. And I'm hoping the fog will lift soon. I want desperately to be writing and reading more. Physically, I am okay. I'm doing light exercise and feel pretty good.
I have at least managed to go back over the earlier Outworld Ranger books, double-checking plot threads and making notes. I planned out a few chapters.
Turkey Day
I ate a lot of food on Thanksgiving. More than I’ve been eating for sure. Covid did a number on my appetite. I’ve lost eight pounds. I needed to lose that weight, but I don’t recommend that method.
Aubrey and I visited my mom, and we made enough food for twelve people instead of three. So we'll be working on those left- overs for some time.
Storm Phase
I'll post a couple of Storm Phase chapters this week. Sorry I’ve missed the last few weeks.
Poll Results
The results of the poll from last week were enlightening. Sixty-seven percent of you prefer Star Trek to Star Wars. I expected Star Trek to win out, but not by that great of a margin.
Personally, I went with Star Wars after much deliberation. Really, it’s a tie for me. Unless I’ve just watched some Star Trek, in which case Star Trek wins out. Star Wars got my vote mostly because of what it meant to me as a young kid.
Of course, I did skip high school graduation parties to watch the last episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation...
Lord of the Rings won out over Dune 54% to 46%. That was the result and the mar- gin I was expecting.
I voted for Lord of the Rings. that's a tough choice though. If we were talking movies, though, LotR by a mile.
I hope you are all doing well.
Best wishes,
David Alastair Hayden
