My friends, I’m sorry it has been several weeks since you last heard from me. I am okay… I think… just a little low on creativity and focus.
I wrote a Chaturday Post last week and decided not to send it. I tried to articulate some complex ideas, but in the end, I decided my articulations were inarticulate and not all that interesting. Sorry to burden you with so many specifics. ;-)
So what have I been up to?
On Groundhog's Day, I knelt in the mud in a wooded park, was shot in the head, and then crammed into the back of an SUV by a couple of thugs.
It was a little bit like the movie Groundhog's Day (one of my favorites) since it happened eight times. Ten if you count the two times the cramming into the SUV part went awry.
That's right, I was doing a bit of acting. I was featured background on a movie titled The Patient. You'll definitely see me in this one since my character, DEAD BODY, is integral to the plot.
My birthday was on February 3rd. So “dying” on the day before, on Groundhog’s Day, was pretty cool symbolism.
The background actor playing the character responsible for my death was former Alabama governor Don Siegelman! Hanging out with the governor was a very cool experience. We discussed some heavy political matters, and he took one of my business cards. The other background actors were awesome dudes as well, and they did a good job cramming me into the SUV. I escaped the day with minimal injuries.
The crew was excellent as well. Kate Beckinsale is in this one. No, I didn't meet her. Sadly. I have no idea who else is in this one. They don't tell background such things.
In other movie news, I auditioned for a lead role, a supporting role, and a day player role over the last couple of weeks. I had to learn a Brooklyn accent for one of them, my guy. Hopefully, I'll land one of those. If not, then fuhgeddaboudit.
I have another audition to film this week, too. And this upcoming Sunday I will be in Atlanta to film a role in a vampire movie!
We're fairly well settled into the new house. We still have random bits and bobs to sort, though. The stuff you have no idea why you still own and you don’t know what to do with it. We definitely need to acquire some shelves for storing hobby stuff would be nice.
Writing
As far as writing goes, I've done more work on Outworld Ranger and Storm Phase. What I have done is exciting, and I will begin sharing some of it with you soon. Sorry for the delay on more Storm Phase chapters. There’s a good reason for that, I assure you.
I did have a bit of a computer issue throw a wrench in things last week. My nine-year-old iMac was starting to slow down considerably. With a spinning HD, that’s never a good sign. So I bought an external drive, taped it to the back of the machine, and I'm booting from that now. You didn't think I was going to open up an iMac did you? Too troublesome and pricey for that. I need this machine to hold on for the rest of the year. My six-year-old phone with the cracked screen probably needs to be replaced first.
Birthday Gift
This is my gift from Aubrey. She really gets me. :-)
Okay folks, it's back to writing. Love to you all.
Best wishes,
David Alastair Hayden
