As we (inexplicably) approach the end of 2024, I am feeling somewhat contemplative about the upcoming year. How about you? I don’t typically do much in the way of new year’s resolutions, though I’m sure I’ll have a couple. Personally, my new year begins the day after Groundhog’s Day. That’s when I take stock of where I am and where I want to go. It’s one of my strange quirks.
I didn’t upload a Chains chapter this week, due to Christmas merriment taking up a lot of time. (I got chocolates and books and pants and dice, and Aubrey and I got a cold plunge tub.) I did manage a little work on Outworld Ranger 6: Protocol SLK-001. And a bit on some fun side projects, too.
Here’s a picture of my typewriter standing desk area, complete with a tiny Christmas tree. It’s actually the top of my comic book storage shelves that are conveniently the perfect height for a standing desk. As I said before, my office is a small room upstairs, crammed with three writing spaces. This is the least used space. I’m not using the typewriter much, and I don’t care to stand and write.

Reading
A space opera series, The Shards of Earth by Adrian Tchaikovsky, and the very awesome Against the Darkmaster roleplaying game. I am currently enthralled by these game rules.
Watching
The Lord of the Rings trilogy, because obviously, and because it’s a holiday season treat. Also watching the Mr. and Mrs. Smith television series, which is entertaining so far.
Listening
Unleash the Archers still, along with mostly instrumental Christmas music. I didn’t get Whammed this year! That’s two years in a row. (For those who don’t know that means I got through the holiday season without hearing Last Christmas by Wham. Despite going to the grocery store multiple times and a bookstore and a department store. I got lucky.)
