Chaturday Post #22

Hello, my friends.

I know it's been a while since you last heard from me. The truth is, I haven't been doing well for the last six weeks or so. In addition to lingering Covid fog, I was having sinus problems and other sundry issues. Aside from feeling like crap, it was incredibly difficult to focus.

But there’s good news. I went to the doctor this week. I now have some medicines and supplements to take, and I am already feeling so much better. And I think that will continue.

I should have gone to the doctor much, much sooner. But I think I was in denial about what I was going through. Sometimes, we get in our own way, even when we know better.

I am fortunate to have a career where I love the work I do. So it's frustrating when I cannot write, and even more so when reading itself becomes a difficult chore.

For some time now, an hour of effort at writing would yield at best five minutes of results. Learning lines for an audition would take five times longer than it should. And my reading speed was torturously slow. You can imagine what that did to my motivation.

It feels so good to be doing some quality efforts again, and I'm looking forward to sharing those results with you. I’m excited about Outworld Ranger and Storm Phase again.

I finally saw the first Dune movie. Obviously, you can't get all of the complexities of any novel into a movie, especially one with the philosophical depth of Dune, but I think they did an excllent job. I enjoyed the film enough that it made me want to reread the book, a definite mark of quality.

As noted, reading has been torturously slow. I finished reading a book on the science of acting, and I am continuing to read Cloud Cuckoo Land.

Acting

I have six film auditions this week. I finished two of them this morning, just in time. If not for feeling better, I doubt I could have managed to turn in a single half-assed one.

I have started taking acting classes over Zoom. I have a great teacher, and the program focuses on film and television, which is great because I have no desire to pursue theater acting.

Zoom

Speaking of Zoom, starting soon, subscribers will get access to a monthly Zoom meeting with me. I'll have the deets on that later this month.
