Chaturday Morning Post
on the Outworld Ranger, brain haze, acting, and a poll on rpgs
"It's the cruel beast that you feed. It's your burning, yearning, need to bleed through the spillways of your soul." — Spillways by Ghost. My favorite lyric from one of my favorite songs from my favorite band.
Acting
This weekend, I'm recording an audution for the lead role in a short film! This is my second audition. So maybe the demo reel I use for submissions doesn't suck donkey balls? I really wouldn’t know. I haven’t taken acting lessons. I wasn’t in any school plays. And I only started this journey this year.
Covid
When I first got Covid in 2021, it was a slog, no doubt. Symptom wise, it was worse, but this time it has gifted me with a lingering brain fog that makes writing and reading difficult. When I can't write, I've tried to focus on learning, watching videos on writing by other authors and videos on acting. Physically, I have all my energy back now. So it's frustrating.
The weird thing is that ever since the fevers broke, I have had a craving for red meat. So I’ve been eating burgers almost every day (at home, I’m not going out to McDonald’s). Normally, I only eat red meat about once or twice a month. Chicken is still okay. My broccoli is edible, but I don’t enjoy it like I used to. I eat fish often, at least I used to. The very idea of eating fish right now is repulsive. Which is weird because even when I was a kid, my favorite breakfast was a can of tuna fish and saltine crackers.
Outworld Ranger
For those of you who have read the Outworld Ranger series, are you still wondering how Gav Gendin got the Outworld Ranger? Gav gave up that memory before he could pass the knowledge on to Silky. Only Torus knows, and no one has been able to restore his memory yet. Well, Torus and me and before long, you will know too.
I am excited about the next book in the series, and there are definitely some cool surprises in store. I have a big surprise planned that I am so excited to write. Gav getting the Outworld Ranger is going to rock your world.
Roleplaying Games
My first exposure to the sci-fi genre was stumbling upon a copy of Battlefield Earth. My first exposure to the fantasy genre was a copy of the Stormbringer 4th edition roleplaying game by Chaosium. That lead me to the works of Michael Moorcock and then other fantasy authors.
Best wishes,
David Alastair Hayden
